In year 10, pupils placed in set 1 for maths study an additional GCSE course, in statistics. It is taught alongside the maths scheme of work over the two year period and equips pupils with an extra GCSE qualification.
Following the Edexcel specification, the statistics course involves a two week supervised coursework element and an external exam at the end of year 11.
With courses in colleges and university becoming increasingly competitive, this extra qualification has proven to be an excellent asset for pupils wishing to progress to further education.
